MISSION & HERITAGE

Bridging Generations by Honoring Polish Roots in Florida

Founded in Venice in 1985, the Polish American Society of Venice is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and celebrating Polish heritage, culture, language, and traditions while fostering a vibrant and welcoming community in Southwest Florida.

Through cultural programs, educational opportunities, charitable initiatives, scholarships, and social events, we inspire connections across generations, honor our shared roots, and create lasting value for our members and the communities we serve.

Our History

The Polish-American Society of Venice (PASoV) was founded on December 29, 1985, after a small group of local Polish families gathered following a Polish Mass celebrated by Fr. Jacek Kowalik. Seeking to preserve their heritage, help those in need, and build community for Polish Americans in Southwest Florida, they created an organization that became part of the Venice area’s cultural fabric.

From twenty people, PASoV grew into a vibrant, respected organization serving generations of members. For more than four decades, it has fostered friendships and shared traditions through educational programs, cultural and holiday events, community gatherings, and charitable initiatives that preserve Polish heritage and enrich Southwest Florida.

Throughout its history, PASoV has supported local and international charities; awarded student scholarships; assisted orphanages and families in Poland; contributed to disaster relief; and supported churches, schools, libraries, cultural institutions, and community organizations. This work reflects its commitment to compassion, volunteerism, service, and giving back.

PASoV’s impact extends beyond its membership. Members helped preserve Polish language and culture by supporting educational initiatives, including the establishment and development of a regional Polish School for children and families in 2001. They also supported Venice’s educational and cultural growth, including initiatives associated with developing the Venice Public Library—reflecting a commitment to both Polish heritage and the broader community.

As an ambassador of Polish culture, PASoV has shared Polish history, traditions, language, music, and achievements through exhibitions, festivals, concerts, educational programs, publications, and the long-running Polonian Echo. These efforts promote cultural understanding and connections among people of diverse backgrounds.

PASoV’s accomplishments are rooted in volunteers’ generosity, talent, and countless hours of service. Their dedication built today’s welcoming organization on friendship, respect, service, and pride in Polish heritage.

Today, PASoV honors its founders’ vision while embracing the future. It remains committed to preserving Polish culture, serving the community, supporting education and charity, and creating opportunities for people of all backgrounds to connect, celebrate, and belong.

Our history is more than a timeline—it is a story of people, service, culture, and community. Generations of volunteers have strengthened the Polish-American community and the City of Venice, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire and enrich lives.
